During the human war, a vehicle transporting gasoline spun off the nearby dirt road and toppled into this lake. Parts of this vehicle can be seen protruding out of the more shallow waters. This 'waterbed', was originally man-made, and was where soldiers that were camped nearby would filter water so it could be safely drinkable. Now the wolves that inhabit this area drink the water regardless of wether it's healthy or not. They believe their stomachs are strong enough to handle the remaining gasoline in this lake.
